The roof reflects the unique characteristics of the region and its climate: a liminal space serving as a transitional element between the interior and the exterior. A wide porch on the southern side faces golden fields that glow on long summer days.
An eccentric patio serves as a welcoming entryway to the apartment with a gradual shift between the public and the private sphere. Facing this transitional space is a new glass structure that hosts the kitchen and connects the main building to the studio. The overall design enhances the brightness of the living room while offering an open view of the building’s brick façade.
In the heart of Berlin’s Kreuzberg district, this warm, cozy, and bright flat overlooks a wide, green courtyard through its four large windows. The renovation focuses on a few strategic elements, using minimal lines to create an extremely functional and optimized space. The rough plywood texture adds a bold aesthetic touch.
